All appliances that require testing must be available at the date and time that the tests are carried out if any appliances are in use or not available or are inacessible they will not be tested. If equipment is installed in a prepared/integral space such as a kitchen cupboard etc it will usually have additional protection from electric shock because the sides of the appliance are inaccesible e.g. a built in fridge or dishwasher. in order for such appliances to be tested it will sometimes be necessary for clients to arrange access to the equipment, cable, plug and the means of isolation. this may mean emptying and moving equipment to facilitate testing. in situations where an item of built in equipment is "hard wired" rather than a removable plug, portable appliance testing will not be performed, this should be done during a periodic wiring inspection
